Gus on TV

Found out that Gus is going to be on Channel 11 tomorrow, Sunday 8/17/08. Initially they thought that the story would air on Tues, but it was changed to Sunday. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Gus had a great time with Sarah home this past week and Becca is trying to convince him to be her therapy dog since she had all four wisdom teeth out on Thurs. That is not going so well. I guess Becca has to be in a hospital for him to "take care of her" :)

Gus continues to heal wonderfully and starting to get his coat back. He wants to play and play HARD. But, right now, he is confined to playing with a leash on and playing with his toys inside the house.

I want to thank you for the donations that many of our friends and family have dontated to Gus' cause. You have no idea how much it is appreciated.

One week after coming home

Well, it has been one week since Gus got back home. He is doing great!! It is amazing how fast he is recovering from his surgery. I would say that dogs recover much faster than us humans from surgery.

Gus has been to work with me everyday this week. Patients and employees were very happy to see him back at work. It just amazes me how many people have asked about how he is doing. He certainly has touched the lives of many people.

I was contacted by Channel 11 and the Daily Sentinel this week. Both are going to be interviewing Gus and I this coming Monday. Be sure to watch for their news stories about Gus next week.

He gets his staples out on Monday at Amigo Vet clinic. We have scheduled his next surgery for September 10th.

Thanks to each of you who have contributed to Gus' surgery fund. You have no idea how much you are appreciated.

Gus Home

Well, Gus got home late Friday afternoon after picking up Anne in Boulder after her trip to IL. Even not feeling so good, he was sooooo excited to see Anne, Sarah and Becca! He just wiggled all over!

He did well on the trip home - slept most of the way. We stopped on top of Vail pass to let me stretch a bit and boy the looks he got - he does look pretty strange I have to admit. I'll post of picture of him but you all can't call him "chicken leg" like Sarah and Becca did.

It is just amazing how well he is doing. He is up and about most of the day - taking naps and resting as he needs. He is on a leash most of the time since he can't slip and fall. We have up baby gates again at our house so he can't go down stairs. Didn't think we'd ever see those things again in our house. At least not for a long time!!

I suspect that Gus will go to work with me next week for those of you who want to see him (and his chicken let). He really needs to be with us all the time or has to wear a "party hat" (cone) so he doesn't lick his wound. He would also have to be crated all day and that just doesn't sound to fun.

Thanks for all your encouragement, thoughts and prayers. We'll keep you posted on this recovery!
